Some vocal Battlefield 6 players are asking for changes to the grenade launcher, labeling it as largely useless. Similar criticism is also directed at Battlefield 6’s rocket launcher.
Battlefield 6 is currently in the midst of its second open beta weekend, which started on August 14 and runs until August 17, giving many players a chance to explore the game, leading to discussions on its strengths and weaknesses.
Frustration With Launcher Balance
Fans have grouped together to express frustration over the grenade launcher’s balancing, deeming it one of the less effective weapons in Battlefield 6’s open beta. The primary concern centers on its inadequate area of effect, which typically requires direct hits to secure kills, an interaction many find unintuitive.
While Battlefield 6 is not a military simulation, its thematic elements lead some fans to argue that the weapon’s ineffectiveness does not align with the game’s atmosphere. Reddit user Nameless908 described the grenade launcher as almost completely useless, comparing it to a spitball.
Grenade Launchers
Battlefield 6 players have noted that the rocket launcher deserves similar complaints due to its lack of significant splash damage. When it doesn’t hit an enemy directly, it only serves to suppress them, failing to meet players’ expectations of demolishing walls or static structures — functionality players intuitively expect.
The Case for Maintaining Current Balancing
Although there are numerous complaints about the launcher mechanics, some players suggest that their limited area of effect is a conscious design choice. By limiting splash damage, DICE has effectively positioned them as specialized tools for taking down vehicles, discouraging their use against infantry. Considering that players can equip two launchers already complicates vehicle use in Battlefield 6, further increasing their area of effect might disrupt this balance.
DICE has yet to indicate that it will rebalance the grenade and rocket launchers before Battlefield 6’s release on October 10.
