A Grand Theft Auto 5 data miner has found evidence of a scrapped gameplay feature that would have allowed players to climb walls and pipes.
The feature seems to have been in the early stages of development when it was abandoned. Newly unearthed in-game files give players insight into how the game could have been transformed had this feature made it to release.
GTA 5 Scrapped Feature
While Grand Theft Auto 5 has been recognized as one of the most significant releases in gaming history, the data miner suggests that Rockstar may have aimed for deeper immersion by introducing a climbing mechanic. This feature, named “handholds,” would have allowed players to scale buildings using drainpipes, blending gameplay elements from previous games like Grand Theft Auto 4 and L.A. Noire.
As for why this feature never made it to the final game, it may simply have been due to Rockstar prioritizing other game elements. This is not the first example of cut content from Grand Theft Auto 5; notable instances include the canceled Agent Trevor DLC, which would have introduced additional single-player content.
Scrapped Feature
Even though Grand Theft Auto 6 is on the horizon, around nine months away, leaks have surfaced regarding its storyline, which will feature characters Lucia and Jason and their involvement in a crime spree across the state of Leonida.
