As the second weekend of the Battlefield 6 beta unfolds, players are voicing their skepticism regarding the small to medium-sized maps. The absence of a sizable map has been the primary complaint from recent playtests. The latest addition, Empire State, features infantry-only gameplay and lacks vehicles, seeming to cater more towards the Call of Duty audience.
Earlier this week, DICE’s lead producer David Sirland assured fans that “large maps exist,” while players remain uncertain about the game’s direction. As some memes circulate depicting new maps that resemble those from Call of Duty, many are questioning EA’s definition of large-scale combat.
“Speed is a factor of map size. We picked these maps to make sure we hit the full-octane version of Battlefield on the head—and made everyone see we can handle that too,” Sirland mentioned via social media.
Despite assurances of larger maps, the interpretation of game modes as ’large-scale’ despite limited play area has stirred criticism, leading some players to question if they will see the extensive warfare typical of previous titles. Fans hope the remaining maps will deliver the expansive experience they expect.
