Neil Newbon, the voice behind the character Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, has expressed his desire to reprise the role but remains hesitant about being typecast. In an insightful interview with challenge runner Luality, he addressed how he is often approached about similar characters.

“I like to stretch myself, I like to play, I like to do different roles all the time. For instance, I’d love to play Astarion again, but I wouldn’t necessarily enjoy playing an Astarion-like character.”

Newbon remarked that while people approach him with roles they deem similar, he often declines, stating, “Not really, no”. This perspective emphasizes his approach to acting and not limiting himself to familiar roles.

Moreover, he shared some humorous reflections about the uniqueness of characters in games versus traditional media, highlighting the freedom gaming allows him as a performer.
