Marvel Rivals Clarifies Matchmaking System to Players

Marvel Rivals emphasizes that it does not utilize Engagement Optimized Matchmaking (EOMM) in its gaming mechanics, responding to players' concerns regarding game balance.

Marvel Rivals is keen to remind players that, apart from the bot issue, the game does not rely on Engagement Optimized Matchmaking (EOMM), which is generally designed to enhance player engagement rather than balance. An official post from the game’s account states, “We are currently working on a video to demonstrate our developer insights on the matchmaking and ranking system, expected for release next week.”

EOMM aims to optimize engagement rather than being purely skill-based.

The game’s community has recently expressed concerns regarding perceived unbalanced matchmaking, with many players reporting drastic differences in skill levels during matches. Various reviews highlight frustrations, with some players dubbing the system “swingy,” leading to uneven gameplay experiences.

The game’s producers are addressing these concerns while emphasizing that they are not misleading players about their matchmaking systems. A video will detail their approach and clarify the use of player data in matchmaking processes.
