Fae Farm Announces End of Online Play as Phoenix Labs Website Goes Dark

The cozy farming simulator Fae Farm will be playable only offline starting September, with its developer, Phoenix Labs, closing down.

Fae Farm, the cozy co-op farming simulator developed by Phoenix Labs and launched in 2023, is officially going offline. A notification on the game’s Steam page states that while it will still be available for offline single-player play, all online functionalities will cease as of September. The game will also not receive further updates.

It appears that Phoenix Labs, which previously laid off a significant portion of its workforce back in January, has now shuttered its operations completely.

A previous announcement indicated updates regarding Fae Farm and its prior title, Dauntless, were forthcoming after the layoffs. However, no communications regarding Fae Farm were made until this recent news. The game has also been completely removed from the Epic Games Store, although it was noted that this might have occurred weeks prior.

While no explicit reason was provided for the discontinuation of online services—especially since a Phoenix Labs account is required to access these features—it’s reasonable to speculate that with the studio’s closure, such support would naturally come to an end.

Players who own Fae Farm on Epic are at a loss as it may remain inaccessible indefinitely, given the ongoing issues with external login requirements. Meanwhile, console versions of the game still seem to retain their online capabilities, offering some hope for those platforms.
