Rumors Suggest Major Movement Mechanic May Be Missing from Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

Speculations arise that Tactical Sprint could be removed in the upcoming Call of Duty installment.

Recent rumors indicate that the feature known as Tactical Sprint may not be included in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Initially revealed during Xbox’s showcase in June, the game aims to take players into the future as a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, featuring protagonist David Mason. The new installment is set to follow alongside Black Ops 6 coming in 2024.

Tactical Sprint was first introduced in the reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2019, allowing players a speed boost via double-tapping the sprint button. It has appeared in every Call of Duty game except for Black Ops Cold War and was also featured in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Many players criticize the mechanic, as it makes regular sprinting feel slower, making Tactical Sprint the preferred option.

Treyarch Testing Build Without Tactical Sprint

Reports suggest that Treyarch, the game’s developer, is experimenting with a version of Black Ops 7 that does not include Tactical Sprint. Well-known leaker TheGhostOfHope announced on Twitter that testing has commenced to assess gameplay without this mechanic. While this development excites some players, it remains uncertain whether the removal will be permanent.

The game’s upcoming notable reveal is anticipated during Gamescom Opening Night Live next week, where its release could be confirmed alongside further events slated for September. Fans eagerly await confirmation regarding the fate of Tactical Sprint in this year’s Call of Duty offering.
