Excitement Builds as Tag Fighters Make a Comeback

The resurgence of tag fighters is making waves in the gaming community, with new contenders like 2XKO and others generating buzz.

Tag fighters are making a much-anticipated return. Although still in development, 2XKO, previously known as Project L, aims to revive the classic genre with exciting new gameplay.

The Summer Game Fest unveiled two additional tag fighter titles: InvincibleVS, developed by a team of former Killer Instinct creators, and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls by the renowned studio Arc System Works, which introduces a 4v4 format.

“Honestly, it’s exciting in a real way, because everybody on this team loves tag fighters, and there were very limited options for a time,” said Alex Jaffe, the lead designer for 2XKO. “We believe this genre provides some of the most mind-blowing experiences in gaming.

The surge in tag fighter announcements is thrilling for fans, even if no titles are currently available for play. Jaffe humorously remarked that 2XKO is already the ‘old new kid on the block’ despite not yet being released.
