US Air Force Plans to Test Cybertruck Explosions for Combat Readiness

The Air Force intends to purchase Tesla Cybertrucks for target practice, aiming to assess their durability against impacts similar to those encountered in combat.

The Federal contracting documents provide details that the US Air Force is interested in acquiring two Tesla Cybertrucks for military testing purposes aimed at assessing their resilience against combat conditions. According to the documents, the Air Force expresses concern over how the adversaries might utilize vehicles like the Cybertruck, which have shown unusual durability upon impact. As stated in the documents, “In the operating theatre, it is likely the type of vehicles used by the enemy may transition to Tesla Cyber trucks as they have been found not to receive the normal extent of damage expected upon major impact. Testing needs to mirror real-world situations.”

In 2024, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov posted a video demonstrating a Cybertruck outfitted with a mounted gun, highlighting potential operational concerns. The testing would take place at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, alongside a variety of other vehicles the Air Force seeks to destroy as part of their evaluation process. Notably, the Cybertruck’s unique construction using unpainted stainless steel and an angular design could provide an unfair advantage in such scenarios compared to conventional vehicles.
