In a surprising moment during her concert, Katy Perry performed 'Last Friday Night' in Simlish, delighting fans of 'The Sims' series.

Katy Perry thrilled fans of The Sims and her music when she performed Last Friday Night in Simlish during a live concert. Long-time fans of the franchise will remember Katy Perry’s music being incorporated into The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

Fans of The Sims series are familiar with Simlish, the playful language of the game’s characters. Throughout the years, numerous popular songs have been re-recorded in this language by various artists, including My Chemical Romance, Depeche Mode, and Yoasobi.

Katy Perry Performs Last Friday Night in Simlish

During one of her tour stops, Katy Perry was handed a note requesting her to sing the Simlish version of her song Last Friday Night. The note contained the lyrics, prompting a moment of hesitation from her as she initially responded, “I shouldn’t do this.” However, she eventually decided to give it a go, and after a hesitant start, she received enthusiastic cheers as she performed the chorus. At the end of the performance, she humorously remarked, “you had to be there.”

It’s likely that not all attendees were aware of the significance of this performance, as her unexpected rendition of gibberish to a beloved tune caught many off guard. The original version of this song was featured in The Sims 3: Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats, which debuted in January 2012. To promote this pack, EA released a recording video of Katy Perry singing in Simlish, which went viral, amassing over 3 million views on YouTube.

Given that it has been 13 years since the song was recorded for the game, it’s remarkable that Perry could still perform it in that manner. While fans may not anticipate her appearing in another Sims installment, the viral nature of this moment could potentially attract the attention of EA and/or Maxis, possibly leading to further collaboration in the future.
