Battling Through a 140,000 Player Queue for Battlefield 6 Beta

Experiencing the overwhelming anticipation and technical hiccups of the Battlefield 6 closed beta testing.

It’s no secret that the Battlefield series has struggled in recent years, often launching in less-than-ideal states that only improve months later. Now, with Battlefield 6, we see a shift back to classic class systems instead of the controversial specialist approach seen in BF2042. This change is essential as players yearn for a return to form.

As excitement builds ahead of the beta weekend, anticipation runs high, and I was keen to join the early access. Upon logging in promptly at 9 am, I was confronted with a staggering 140,000 player queue, a testament to the game’s intense pull. Even PC Gaming Show Editorial Director Jake Tucker had to wait with 220,000 players ahead of him.

After waiting through an hour, I finally entered, only to find the UI completely blank. Stumbling through what I assumed was the game mode selection, I was confused when everything went locked, forbidding me from queuing again.

Upon forcibly reloading the game, I faced an even larger queue, peaking at 200,000 players. Despite technical hiccups, the demand speaks volumes about Battlefield 6’s potential. With players reporting various issues—from UI errors to long wait times—there’s hope that these can be addressed before the broader beta opens.

In the meantime, it’s clear that the gaming community is eagerly watching, ready to see if this new installment can reignite the beloved series’ legacy.
