Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice may soon receive an anime adaptation as suggested by the recent registration of a web domain. While previous leaks hinted at such a project, this registration provides more concrete evidence that an anime based on Sekiro is in progress.
Recent findings indicate that Kadokawa, which holds a significant stake in FromSoftware (about 70%), has registered the domain ‘Sekiro-Anime.JP.’ This domain was registered on July 31 and is expected to remain valid for at least a year, although it can be renewed. Currently, the domain leads to a 404 error page.
The buzz about a Sekiro anime has intensified, especially as fans of FromSoftware note the company’s growing portfolio. Sekiro, which debuted in 2019, has sold over ten million units and has often been part of discussions regarding remakes of other FromSoftware titles like Bloodborne. With the announcement of the web domain, speculation is mounting regarding the timeline for an official announcement from either Kadokawa or FromSoftware.
Furthermore, rumors suggest that an anime studio called Qzil.la might be developing the sequel, although there are concerns regarding the potential use of AI in animation, as the studio plans to use generative AI in some of its productions. Until an official confirmation is made, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates.
