Spirit Triumphs Over Liquid in IEM Katowice Elimination Match
Spirit eliminates Liquid from IEM Katowice, progressing to the playoffs against GamerLegion.
The international squad will have a month without playing official matches.
Spirit secured a place in the Group B lower bracket final at IEM Katowice 2025, taking down Liquid with a 2-0 victory thanks to an outstanding display by their star player, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who will now face GamerLegion for a shot at the playoffs.
Liquid exits the tournament after this loss, marking their second defeat following earlier losses to The MongolZ in the initial round of the group stage. They will take a month for practice before returning for ESL Pro League Season 21 starting on March 7.
Liquid’s coach, Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg, spoke about the team’s performance post-match, revealing insights into their ongoing adaptation and system development. “We made major progress during this event. We had many good and strong discussions that are moving us closer to having an identity we can be proud of and believe in,” MithR explained to Freya Spiers on the broadcast.
“Twistzz has been instrumental in clarifying our playbook, aligning everything to be more focused on our goals, making it easier for the entire team to understand our mission,” he added.
Despite their recent setbacks, Liquid aims to strengthen their performance in future tournaments. They are observing rivals while preparing for their next challenge, hoping to leverage their existing strategies effectively for better results.
