AMD Launches RX 9060 Without XT: A Budget GPU Option

AMD has introduced the Radeon RX 9060, a more affordable variant of its RX 9060 XT, featuring fewer cores and slower memory, targeting PC builders rather than gamers seeking DIY solutions.

AMD has rolled out a new entry-level graphics card, the Radeon RX 9060, which offers a more budget-friendly option compared to its higher-performing sibling, the RX 9060 XT. The RX 9060 comes with 28 RDNA 4 compute units instead of 32 and features slower 8 GB VRAM at 18 Gbps, compared to the 20 Gbps in the XT variant.

The RX 9060 is not expected to be available for direct purchase by consumers but is aimed at system integrators and PC builders. Its specifications highlight a 15% reduction in performance compared to the 9060 XT, making its performance drop noticeable, especially at 1080p resolutions.

Notably, early benchmarks indicate its performance at Native 1080p Ultra Settings yields solid frame rates, but the 8 GB memory is becoming a limitation in a market increasingly favoring higher capacities. The RX 9060’s pricing remains to be confirmed, but it is anticipated to be lower than the RX 9060 XT, which retails at $299.
