Raven QA Workers Celebrate First Union Contract After Prolonged Negotiation

Raven QA testers have secured their inaugural union contract after three years of discussions with Microsoft.

In 2022, QA testers from Raven Software, known for their work on Call of Duty, took a significant step by forming a union, becoming the first major American game studio to do so. After three years of negotiations, members of the Game Workers Alliance - CWA have ratified their first contract with Microsoft.

The agreement promises a guaranteed 10% salary increase over two years, defines limitations on mandatory overtime, and ensures clearer job descriptions along with promotion processes. Erin Hall, a member of the bargaining committee, stated, “From day one, we made it a priority to include every voice in the room… This contract values the hard work of QA testers.”

Hall expressed pride in their achievement and hopes it serves as inspiration for fellow game workers to organize for better conditions.

Autumn Prazuch, another committee member, emphasized the journey from organization to negotiation, highlighting the hard-fought victories aimed at creating sustainable career paths in QA.

The contract has been hailed as an essential victory for all game workers striving for improved working conditions in the industry.
