Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3 Expresses Frustration Over Being Labeled as a Voice Actor

Jennifer English articulates her pet peeve in her role as an actor, wishing for broader recognition that includes her full scope of work.

Jennifer English on Her Role in Gaming

Popular Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 actor Jennifer English has expressed her disdain for being referred to as merely a voice actor. During a livestreaming session where she played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, she mentioned, “For Baldur’s Gate 3, I hate, hate being called ‘voice actor’ so much. It makes me really angry, because it just completely gets rid of all my other career as an actor.”

English emphasized that this label diminishes the significance of her contributions, particularly the motion capture work that forms a critical part of many video game performances.

Moreover, she noted the growing recognition she has gained in the gaming community, asserting that her upcoming lead role in Tides of Annihilation could solidify her status as a prominent figure in major gaming titles.

While the future of her character Shadowheart in further projects remains uncertain, the popularity of the character suggests a strong chance of her return, although English has indicated there are specific conditions she wishes to see met before reprising the role.
