Nintendo has revealed the updated list of the best-selling Nintendo Switch games of all time. The Nintendo Switch is on its way to becoming the best-selling Nintendo console ever, within striking distance of the DS. A big reason why the Switch has been such a monumental success is because of its massive library of high-quality games.
Since the Nintendo Switch launched in 2017, Nintendo and third-party partners have released all kinds of Switch games to a great deal of commercial and critical success. The console has truly built one of the most impressive libraries in the history of the industry, with Nintendo updating everyone on its best-performing titles every quarter.
Unsurprisingly, the latest update to Nintendo’s list of best-selling Switch games is unchanged when it comes to the order, though every game in the top 10 has shipped more units. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the best-selling Switch game by a significant margin at 68.86 million units sold, while Animal Crossing: New Horizons maintains second place with 48.19 million. Rounding out the top five are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 36.55 million units and Super Mario Odyssey at 29.50 million units.
List of the Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games
Game Title | Units Sold (as of June 30, 2025) | Previous Units Sold (as of May 2025) |
---|---|---|
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe | 68.86 million | 68.20 million |
Animal Crossing: New Horizons | 48.19 million | 47.82 million |
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | 36.55 million | 36.24 million |
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | 33.04 million | 32.81 million |
Super Mario Odyssey | 29.50 million | 29.28 million |
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet | 27.15 million | 26.79 million |
Pokémon Sword and Shield | 26.84 million | 26.72 million |
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | 21.93 million | 21.73 million |
Super Mario Party | 21.19 million | 21.16 million |
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe | 18.36 million | 18.25 million |
At this stage, it seems unlikely that the top 10 standings will change significantly, but it is possible that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe may eventually be pushed out. After all, Super Mario Party Jamboree is considered one of the best entries in the series, suggesting it may soon surpass Super Mario Party, which is currently ahead of NSMBU Deluxe. With the Switch 2 now out, however, it’s possible that most Nintendo fans will be focusing on the lineup of exclusive games for that console.
Once enough exclusives for the Switch 2 are released, it will be fascinating to see which games become the most popular on the new platform. Mario Kart World is comfortably in first place with 5.62 million units sold, but Donkey Kong Bananza is also likely to make the list. Though there haven’t been any new Zelda or Mario games released for the Switch 2 yet, when they eventually do launch, one has to wonder how their sales will compare to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
