On August 1, Atari and Digital Eclipse confirmed that Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will also feature the beloved Mortal Kombat Trilogy within its compilation. While there are various editions with unique characters, the specific versions of Mortal Kombat Trilogy included in the collection remain unclarified.
Originally launched in October 1996 on the PlayStation, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a refined version of Mortal Kombat 3, succeeding Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 from 1995. The game incorporates gameplay mechanics from its predecessor while introducing stages and characters from the previous two Mortal Kombat games. The title went on to receive ports for platforms like Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, and Windows PCs.
In light of rumors about a potential remaster of Mortal Kombat Trilogy for modern systems, fans were taken aback by the announcement of its inclusion in the upcoming Legacy Kollection. The Kollection will host a list of titles such as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat Advance, and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, with additional titles yet to be disclosed. Digital Eclipse and Atari released a brief trailer showcasing the physical editions of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, presently available for preorder on Atari’s store. The Standard, Deluxe, and Kollector’s Editions are priced at $49.99, $69.99, and $149.99, respectively, with the Kollector’s Edition featuring physical collectibles such as a Goro controller holder and a commemorative arcade token.

However, Switch 2 copies of each Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection edition will be subject to a $10 price increase in comparison to other console versions. Furthermore, the packaging details from Atari indicate that the Switch 2 version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will not be on a Game-Key Card.
