Steam Introduces Revamped Video Player for Convenient Trailer Viewing

Steam enhances its video player, making it more user-friendly after overhauling 400,000 game trailers.

Steam has unveiled a refreshed video player that promises a smoother and more user-friendly experience for viewing game trailers. Previously criticized for being laggy and unreliable, the new player features a redesigned interface that works effectively on various devices, including iPhones. Users can now enjoy seamless transitions and fewer interruptions while navigating through video content. Valve committed significant resources to re-encode over 400,000 trailers to facilitate this upgrade, aiming for a smarter management of internet bandwidth that allows trailers to adjust their quality in real-time, similar to YouTube. However, some older trailers may only be available in lower resolutions due to the lack of original files in the Steam system.
