Destiny 2 Faces SAG-AFTRA Strike Impact: Voiced Dialogue Cuts Ahead of Heresy Release

Destiny 2's upcoming expansion Heresy is set to launch without a significant amount of voiced dialogue due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, affecting character interactions including Sloane.

Destiny 2: Heresy is launching on February 4, marking the end of the Light and Darkness Saga and introducing a new gameplay mode called The Nether for three players.

However, some voiced dialogues will not be present regarding certain characters, notably Sloane. This shortage is a result of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, as stated in Bungie’s blog on January 30. The team reassured players, saying, “With this being our final epilogue entry for the Light and Darkness Saga, our teams have been taking great care to deliver delightful narrative beats and story content for players to enjoy. Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, you may notice certain voice lines being silent in-game. However, we have enabled subtitles by default for this release to ensure players do not miss any narrative content.”

Bungie also advises that any affected activities will come with a warning in-game and highlighted the customization options available for closed captioning.

The SAG-AFTRA strike not only impacts Destiny 2 but also various other titles, with more than 120 games from 49 companies endorsing the agreement as of last October. Other games impacted include titles like League of Legends and projects by Hideo Kojima, alongside Activision’s recasting decisions in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
