Capcom recently announced Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection during the latest Nintendo Direct event, with a target release in 2026.
This upcoming title is a continuation of the spin-off series that draws heavily from Pokemon, emphasizing turn-based combat instead of the franchise’s usual action-packed gameplay.
The first entry of this series, which debuted as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive in 2016, paved the way for subsequent releases on mobile and other consoles, including a port to the Switch, PS4, and PC in 2024. The sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, was released in 2021 for the Switch and PC, and later on PS4 in 2024.
The latest game, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, will feature a gripping narrative concerning two exhausted nations, Azuria and Vermeil, as they confront a looming environmental disaster along with ancient omens that threaten to reignite long-standing conflicts. Players will assume the role of Azuria’s heir and Rathalos Rider, seeking the princess Eleanor of Vermeil to unravel a mystery tied to a fabled Rathalos egg that foreshadows a civil war from 200 years ago. Meanwhile, a disturbing crystal corruption is spreading across the land, endangering both monsters and ecosystems.
In terms of platforms, the game is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam). Capcom aims for a simultaneous international release, breaking away from the traditional staggered launches that were common in previous titles.
Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.
