After nearly a year since its announcement, Micron has released the world’s first PCIe 6.0 SSD, the 9650 NVMe, designed primarily for AI applications.

This SSD boasts remarkable sequential read speeds of up to 28 GB/s, courtesy of the advanced PCIe 6.0 interface. While these speeds are meant for data centers and not for gaming PCs, they showcase the future potential of SSD technology.

• Transfer Rates: Utilizes PCIe 6.0 lanes capable of bi-directional transfers up to 64 Gbps.
• Capacity Options: Available in sizes starting at 6.4 TB, scaling up to a whopping 30.72 TB.
• Endurance Ratings: Offers astonishing durability with a maximum endurance of 282,600 TBW.

While PCIe 6.0 is backwards compatible, current gaming setups won’t accommodate this form factor, which does not fit into conventional M.2 sockets, indicating a lengthy wait for consumer availability.
