Pullup Entertainment’s CEO, Geoffroy Sardin, expressed amazement over the remarkable sales performance of Space Marine 2, which reached an unexpected 7 million unique players. Sardin noted that the success highlights a significant demand for distinctive and engaging gaming experiences.
In a recent interview with The Game Business, he remarked, “We didn’t believe that we could hit 7 million unique players. It was incredible for us.” This number reflects not just the popularity of the title but a possible shift in the gaming landscape towards games that cater to passionate niche markets.
Sardin pointed out that big budget AAA games often struggle due to their large scale and high production demands, leading to low agility in reaching the right audience. Conversely, he views the success of mid-tier and indie games as a promising trend, advocating for creativity and agility in the industry.
“When the execution is right, it ends up resonating with many more people," Sardin stated, emphasizing the importance of targeting the right audiences instead of trying to appeal to everyone. Pullup’s growth, including its remarkable quarterly revenue increase by more than 130% from last year, indicates a positive direction for the future of gaming.
