Advancements in Micron’s SSDs

The new SSDs include the 9650, 6600 ION, and 7600 models, each addressing different challenges in AI computing. The 9650 SSD is a PCIe 6th generation drive, touted as one of the fastest in its class, capable of 28 GB/s read speeds and 14 GB/s writes, making it ideal for large enterprise tasks like AI training. This model is also more energy-efficient compared to its predecessors, contributing to reduced environmental impact.

The 6600 ION SSD offers scalability, accommodating up to 245TB in a single drive, while the 7600 aims to balance affordability with performance suitable for modern workloads.

Although these SSDs are primarily designed for data centers and not directly targeted towards typical consumer gaming needs, the technological advancements provide an intriguing glimpse into the future of hardware optimized for AI.
