Over the past few days, Battlefield fans were concerned over a recent report alleging that Battlefield 6 would adopt an $80 base price. This information came from a reputable insider claiming a European price tag of €80 for Battlefield 6, which, when converted, suggested a potential launch price of over $90 in the US. Given EA’s historical reluctance to adjust game prices regionally and many major publishers embracing the $80 price point for high-caliber AAA releases, speculation around the matter quickly picked up steam.

Though EA allayed fears of a pricing jump to $80 a few months ago, many were convinced that the publisher reneged on its promise for Battlefield 6. However, during EA’s recent Q1 2025 earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the company still has no plans to increase AAA game prices beyond the current $70 standard. He stated that EA maintains a broad pricing strategy across its catalog, ranging from free-to-play experiences to premium editions, and that no “dramatic changes” in pricing are expected in the near future.

Wilson’s comments effectively dismiss the likelihood of Battlefield 6 adopting the $80 pricing model that some competitors have tested in recent months. Nintendo was the first to introduce the $80 price tag for Mario Kart World, a move that was widely criticized. Microsoft soon followed suit, confirming that future AAA Xbox games would be priced at $80. Upcoming Obsidian RPG The Outer Worlds 2 was supposed to be the first $80 Xbox release later this year, but Microsoft ended up backpedaling on the decision due to public backlash.

Against this backdrop, EA’s decision to hold the line at the established $70 price point for Battlefield 6 is a noteworthy deviation from what was anticipated to be a growing trend. Battlefield 6 is a highly important game for EA and is being worked on by several of the publisher’s studios.
