DIY PC Case Transformation: A Hobbyist's Take on Crafting a Terracotta Aesthetic

A creative enthusiast turns a bland PC case into a stunning piece resembling vintage terracotta.

In the realm of PC customization, one hobbyist has shown an impressive twist on standard case designs by creating a PC that resembles an aged terracotta pot.

This unique project was shared on the PCMR subreddit, where the user, SayleH, explained his motivation behind the striking aesthetic. “Honestly, I really loved how old and weathered terracotta pots look,” he disclosed.

SayleH initially opted for the Fractal Design Terra case in Jade Green, intending to break away from the typical ‘black box’ appearance that many PCs exhibit. To achieve the terracotta look, he followed a tutorial by tech YouTuber JayzTwoCents on painting a PC. Using a mixture of plaster of Paris and PVA, he crafted a finish that effectively replicated the timeworn charm of terracotta.

This hobbyist emphasizes the significance of personal touch in building PCs, saying, “It’s good to be unique with your own stuff; you get to build a connection with it, a labor of love.” Whether viewed as a relic from the past or an artistic endeavor of the future, the customization stands out among the typical monochromatic offerings in the market.
