
I feel a bit sorry for Monster Hunter Wilds, a game that I enjoyed for over 60 hours, yet is currently facing a troubling ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’ review status on Steam.
The issues are two-fold: first, the gameplay loop fails to capture the essence of its predecessors, prioritizing user-friendliness over depth, which some fans find detracting. Second, Capcom’s ongoing optimization troubles continue to plague the game, which has not improved even months post-launch.

In response to the initial unfavorable reactions (which included a controversial decision to […] ), Capcom is enacting a significant overhaul to restore the game’s reputation, especially its endgame content. A planned expansion meant for the third title update in late September will now launch sooner with version 1.021 on August 13.
This forthcoming update will introduce a new quest difficulty, a revamped rewards system involving Talismans with randomized skills, and improvements that touch on an expanded array of weapons. However, the community remains apprehensive; while players are eager for fresh challenges, they are equally wary of potential bugs in the patch.
