Halo Infinite Set to Withdraw from Championship Series in 2025

Halo Infinite will conclude its role in the Halo Championship Series after the upcoming event, marking a significant transition in the Halo franchise.

Halo Studios is retiring Halo Infinite from the Halo Championship Series following the event set for late October 2025. This game has held the title for the series since the relaunch of the eSports competition in 2021. After four years of competitive play, which is the longest duration for a title in the Halo series, the conclusion will take place at the Halo World Championship from October 24-26.

Over its four years as the official eSports title for Halo, Halo Infinite has undergone numerous changes. Until 2024, the developer, now known as Halo Studios after previously being 343 Industries, supported the game through seasonal updates that included new balance adjustments and content expansions, which kept the player base engaged. While Halo Studios has shifted from seasonal updates to a tiered Operation Pass model, a recent summer update indicated their ongoing commitment to the game, introducing new weapons and cosmetic items in a new battle pass.

An update from Halo Studios has confirmed that Halo Infinite will officially step down from the Halo Championship Series post the 2025 event. While support for side events, both online and LAN competitions, continues, the primary Championship Series will pause, with no new title scheduled for 2026. This raises questions on whether a new Halo game will be revealed next year or if the series will remain without a title until after 2026.

The announcement has sparked rumors about a major reveal for Halo at the Halloween Championship this year, suggesting that attendees can expect initial details on future plans. Halo Studios has promised to keep the community informed about upcoming eSports titles, with another update anticipated in late 2026. The future for Master Chief and the Halo franchise remains uncertain, as there are no confirmed plans for a sequel to Halo Infinite beyond a book and rumors of a story DLC that never materialized.
