PS Plus Continues Strong Streak of Day One Releases

The PlayStation Plus Extra tier has consistently added day one game releases, with exciting titles expected this month and beyond.

The Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus has been consistently releasing games from day one, marking significant value akin to its rival, Xbox Game Pass. This trend, while not monthly, has seen a notable increase in 2025. The first release of this year was Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 1 introduced in February, followed by Tape 2 in April and Blue Prince, which has received high praise.

This streak commenced in June with Remedy Entertainment’s release of FBC: Firebreak. Despite not making a big impact, each new addition to the lineup continues to excite subscribers, with the service maintaining momentum with Abiotic Factor last month and expecting Sword of the Sea on August 19, fresh on day one.

Day One PS Plus Extra Games for 2025

  • Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (Tape 1 - February/Tape 2 - April)
  • Blue Prince - April
  • FBC: Firebreak - June
  • Abiotic Factor - July
  • Sword of the Sea - August

For those unaware, Sword of the Sea is developed by the visionary art designer behind Journey and outstanding titles like Abzu and The Pathless. Its vibrant visuals have been praised since its first announcement, making it a desirable addition to the PS Plus Extra catalogue. As of now, the complete lineup of August 2025’s PS Plus Extra titles remains a mystery.
