GamerLegion’s coach, Ashley “ash” Battye, remarked:
“Unfortunately, [the mental side] is still hurting us here, that’s the downside of having a very young team.”
Translation: Unfortunately, the psychological aspect continues to be a challenge for us, highlighting the difficulties of managing a young team.
After a difficult exit from Stage 2 at IEM Cologne 2025, GamerLegion faced serious setbacks. In their initial match against Falcons, the team allowed their lead to slip in a critical moment, leading to a narrow defeat.
In another match against 3DMAX, GamerLegion found themselves on the brink of victory before a critical mistake reversed their fortune.
After a comeback that forced a decisive match to overtime, the team dropped a crucial 4v2 situation, leaving Coach ash visibly frustrated.
“It’s really hard to watch,” he said, elaborating on their performance, “It feels like we’re doing 90% of the round right and then not controlling our adrenaline. It feels like we’re losing off the server in these key situations.”
Fredrik “REZ” Sterner noted earlier in the tournament that the team had been working on not focusing solely on tactics but also on mental resilience.
As a result of their early exit, GamerLegion plans to utilize the next month to regroup and prepare for several upcoming tournaments, including the Esports World Cup and ESL Pro League Season 22.
