Blizzard has confirmed that the next major update for Diablo 4 will not be available until Season 10 launches. The recently released Season 9 has received mixed feedback from players, who have been dealing with various technical problems and feeling that the game’s updates have focused too narrowly on specific meta builds.
As part of its development, the latest Season 9 introduced new gameplay features such as Horadric Spellcraft and Escalating Nightmares, which were designed to enhance the game’s endgame experience. Nevertheless, the community hopes for more substantial updates in the future, especially with a lack of a new expansion scheduled for 2025.
According to a report by TheGamer, Adam Fletcher commented on social media platform X, “we’re in between seasons, so nothing to share yet,” indicating that players can expect some news around the PTR (Public Test Realm) for Season 10.
The absence of significant mid-season updates has been disappointing. Blizzard recently released patch notes focusing solely on minor bug fixes rather than impactful changes. Fans had anticipated regular balancing updates that have been customary in earlier seasons.
Diablo 4 currently stands at a pivotal moment, given the limited successes of its recent seasons following the last expansion, Vessel of Hatred. The news about no upcoming expansion until 2026 also disrupts the cycle of expected annual releases, raising concerns about the game’s future flow of new content.
