Game of the Year Nominee Set to Launch on Xbox This August

The acclaimed action game 'Black Myth: Wukong' will officially debut on Xbox one year after its original release for PC and PS5.

On August 20, which marks a year since its launch for PC and PS5, the Game of the Year nominee Black Myth: Wukong is set to debut on Xbox Series X/S. This title was a major hit in 2024, with sales soaring to 20 million copies within its first month, making it one of the fastest-selling games of all time. The game, which draws inspiration from the renowned Chinese classic Journey to the West, garnered five nominations at The Game Awards 2024, securing wins for Best Action Game and Players’ Voice.

While Black Myth: Wukong received a mix of reviews, it ultimately achieved a positive reception and is recognized as one of the standout releases of the previous year.

Black Myth: Wukong Xbox Release

The game’s success is notable, especially since it only became available on PC and PlayStation 5 initially, bypassing the Xbox platform entirely. Although there were speculations about a PS5 exclusivity deal, the developers cited challenges in optimizing the game for Xbox consoles as the primary reason for the delay, particularly pointing to the weaker capabilities of the Xbox Series S. Regardless, the anticipation for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox is nearing its conclusion, with the game set to launch on August 20, just as it did a year prior.
