With the implementation of the Online Safety Act in the UK, users are now required to verify their age to access adult content. However, just hours after this legislation took effect, some have discovered a method to circumvent these checks using Death Stranding’s photo mode.
Our own James tested this workaround by using selfies of Sam Porter Bridges to bypass Discord’s age verification system successfully. It seems that the detailed character expressions in the game allow for effective impersonation, satisfying the requirements set forth by the service.
How the Waning of Verification Works:
- Users can use a phone camera to take selfies in Death Stranding’s photo mode, which can then pass the verification checks.
- K-id, the verification system used by Discord, checks for facial movements to confirm that the user is indeed a live person.
So far, this hack has enabled users to view NSFW content on Discord without revealing their actual identity. While this technique might not be a long-term solution as other verification methods might be implemented, it’s clear that some clever gamers have found a way to circumvent the rules in the name of entertainment.
