MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy has revealed its plans for updates to address various issues raised after the action-adventure game’s troubled launch. As part of this announcement, they shared that a highly anticipated crossover with a well-known stealth franchise would be indefinitely postponed.
Launched a month ago, MindsEye is Build A Rocket Boy’s debut venture, led by Leslie Benzies, a former producer at Rockstar known for his work on the Grand Theft Auto series. The game, however, faced significant backlash for its poor technical performance, confusing design elements, and a scarcity of meaningful content, which ultimately led to layoffs of more than 100 employees at the studio.
Following widespread criticism, Benzies is reportedly planning a relaunch of MindsEye to aim for a second chance. According to a recent update, two patches are scheduled to be released soon, focusing on introducing crucial improvements. The first patch, referred to as Update 4, is set for August and will enhance performance, add skippable cutscenes, and allow swift access to player-generated content on PC. Update 5, due in September, is expected to refine the core gameplay mechanics, although further details remain undisclosed.
