Battlefield 6: Disappointment for Last-Gen Console Owners

Battlefield 6 will not launch on PS4 and Xbox One, generating mixed reactions among fans.

Battlefield 6 has disappointing news for some console users. The official reveal trailer suggests that the game will be available only on current-generation consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, alongside PC platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store. This means that users on older consoles like PS4 and Xbox One will miss out on the new title.

Though the absence of PS4 and Xbox One editions may upset some fans, this decision permits Battlefield 6 to capitalize on modern hardware capabilities. This was announced following months of leaks and speculation before the game’s trailer was finally unveiled by EA on July 24. The trailer was packed with action, indicating a strong single-player experience, although fans of multiplayer will have to wait until July 31 for further details.

The anticipation regarding the multiplayer aspect remains high, with rumors about EA organizing a special three-day event featuring interviews and gameplay sessions for content creators. However, these details are yet to be confirmed.

In contrast to other franchises continuing to support old consoles, including Call of Duty, Battlefield 6 aims to specialize in next-gen console capabilities. The reveal of the Battlefield 6 trailer garnered substantial attention, quickly surpassing Black Ops 7 in likes within an hour, indicating a promising start for the new installment.
