WoW Classic Player Misses World First by Mere Minutes After Verification

A World of Warcraft Classic player narrowly loses the world first title for reaching level 90, as verification raises doubts over the winner's legitimacy.

The launch of Mists of Pandaria Classic has ignited fierce competition among players to be the first to reach the new level cap. Twitch streamer Lmgd1 celebrated when he achieved the Realm First! Level 90 Monk milestone, relishing in the glory of top-level play. “Back-to-back world champion, boys!” he cheered, recalling his previous achievement of reaching level 85 in record time a year before.

However, shortly after his triumph, a rumor circulated that a different player, Samdxdx, had actually claimed the title just a minute earlier. This claim was substantiated by a timestamp on a cropped screenshot, causing chaos in the community.

Verification step: A player went into the official WoW API, which confirmed Samdxdx’s achievement as happening 2 minutes and 22 seconds earlier than Lmgd1. Despite the evidence, Lmgd1 expressed skepticism during his next live stream, questioning whether a player could be deemed “world first” if their achievement wasn’t streamed. The debate over legitimacy and fairness raged on, showcasing the competitive spirit and controversy that surrounds the World of Warcraft community.
