New Pokémon GO Fossil Research Day Scheduled for August 2025

Niantic has announced an upcoming Fossil Research Day for Pokémon GO, packed with exciting rewards and opportunities for trainers.

Niantic has announced that the Pokémon GO Fossil Research Day will take place on August 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. During this event, players will have the chance to complete themed Field Research tasks that will offer guaranteed encounters with Tyrunt and Amaura, both of which have boosted chances of being caught as Shiny Pokémon.

Other Pokémon, including Omanyte, Kabuto, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, and Archen, will also be appearing in the wild at increased rates during the event. This opportunity is particularly appealing for players eager to expand their collections with Shiny versions of these Pokémon.

Alongside the free Field Research tasks, Niantic will introduce event-exclusive paid Timed Research accessible through the in-game shop for $1.99. This will include additional Field Research tasks and the chance for more encounters with the featured Pokémon. Make sure to complete the tasks before they expire at 5:00 PM on August 2.

Upcoming Events: After this event, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for other happenings in Pokémon GO, including Dark Skies beginning on August 18 and the GO Fest 2025: Max Finale on August 23. Also, on August 30, Rookidee will be featured in the Community Day event.
