The Trump administration has introduced its AI action plan, which aligns with a previous executive order aimed at removing obstacles to American supremacy in artificial intelligence. Key strategies outlined include:
- Exporting American AI: Collaborating with industry to deliver comprehensive AI packages to allies worldwide.
- Promoting Rapid Data Center Infrastructure: Streamlining permits for data centers and semiconductor facilities while creating initiatives for growing high-demand job sectors.
- Fostering Innovation and Utilization: Easing federal regulations that impede AI development and soliciting feedback from the private sector on regulatory improvements.
- Protecting Free Speech in AI Models: Updating procurement standards to favor AI developers who guarantee bias-free systems.
David Sacks stated, “To win the AI race, the U.S. must lead in innovation, infrastructure, and global partnerships. At the same time, we must center American workers and avoid Orwellian uses of AI. This Action Plan provides a roadmap for doing that.”
In supporting these policies, Secretary of State Marco Rubio remarked, “These clear-cut policy goals set expectations for the Federal Government to ensure America sets the technological gold standard worldwide.”
With recent changes permitting companies like Nvidia to engage in exporting high-end AI hardware to China, it appears advancing U.S. technology exports is a significant element of the AI strategy moving forward.
