
Pokemon TCG Unveils Pull Rates for Black Bolt and White Flare Expansion
The latest Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion release reveals the probabilities of obtaining different card rarities, much to the delight of collectors.
The Pokemon Trading Card Game has just announced the pull rates for its latest expansion, Black Bolt and White Flare. This represents the fifth and concluding special expansion in the Scarlet and Violet cycle, revisiting Generation 5 to celebrate the characters first introduced in the Unova region.
Black Bolt and White Flare were released as a dual set in Japan on June 6. Each card showcases a secret rare or higher art variant, featuring cards adorned with a Poke Ball or Master Ball in the backdrop, along with 38 new cards showcasing Pokemon ex. On July 18, these sets were introduced to Western audiences, marking a significant localization of a special expansion previously available in Japan.
Recent statistics have been shared with fans preparing to collect the new Pokemon TCG cards. TCG Player has revealed the statistical chances of obtaining cards of various rarity tiers based on the examination of over 700 booster packs. For instance, approximately 30.56% of the packs yield a Poke Ball Foil card. Meanwhile, Double Rare, Ultra Rare, and Illustration Rare cards come in at a probability of 21.11%, 5.83%, and 16.39%, respectively.
Moreover, Master Ball Foil and Special Illustration Rare cards, which showcase impressive artwork featuring Generation 5 Pokemon and characters like N and Hilda, only have a probability of 5.14% and 1.25%.
An interesting note is that the pull rates for Illustration Rare cards in Black Bolt and White Flare are significantly better than in prior expansions from the Scarlet and Violet series, with chances improving to 1 in 6 packs as opposed to 1 in 12 previously.
