In a recent poll conducted within the Helldivers 2 community, an impressive 82,188 players favored the name ‘Gun’ for a new city, making it the clear winner, having received about 72.5% of the total votes. This significant response highlights the community’s engagement and humor, as Gun is a straightforward and memorable name.

The poll allowed the community to vote among five options, but none came close to the popularity of Gun. When all other alternatives were combined, they only garnered around 32,250 votes, making Gun more than double in popularity.

This decision evokes memories of past naming controversies, such as the autonomous vehicle named ‘Boaty McBoatface’ due to a similar crowd-sourced naming initiative, showcasing the unique and sometimes humorous outcomes of community votes.

CEO Shams Jorjani remarked on the poll’s results, acknowledging the power of community sentiment. As promising as it seems, he humorously mentioned hoping for a different outcome, yet accepts that the community has made its choice clear.

Currently, players are eager to explore this new city in the satirical Helldivers 2 universe, with many stating their intent to contribute to the growth and chaos of Gun, which they secretly hope might one day be rebuilt as Gun 2 after a heroic or catastrophic twist in gameplay.
