Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath and a celebrated media figure, passed away on July 22 at the age of 76. Osbourne had been bravely fighting Parkinson’s disease for years, and tragically, he left us just three weeks after his last live performance.
When one thinks of the most significant and influential personalities in heavy metal, Ozzy’s name is always at the forefront. Since helping to establish Black Sabbath in 1968, he has produced nearly twenty albums, both as a solo artist and with his band.
On social media, Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, alongside their children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, shared the heartbreaking news: “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
The final show of Osbourne’s career took place just weeks before his passing as part of the Back to the Beginning farewell tour, featuring original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler. A recording of this show, titled Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow, is set to premiere in early 2026, highlighting classic metal hits such as “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid.”
Osbourne’s contributions extend beyond music. He has made cameos in films like Austin Powers in Goldmember and Trolls World Tour, appeared on shows like South Park and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and starred in the reality series The Osbournes. In addition, his influence reached the gaming world with appearances in titles like Guitar Hero World Tour and Brutal Legend.
