Fable Reboot Faces Possible Pushback to 2027
Recent leaks indicate a potential delay for the Fable reboot, disappointing fans eagerly awaiting the game's release.
The Fable reboot is reportedly facing the possibility of being delayed until 2027, much to the disappointment of its fanbase. This concern comes just months after Fable experienced a significant delay earlier in the year.
The fourth main installment of the Fable franchise was initially revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase in July 2020. The first gameplay footage, rendered using the ForzaTech engine, was released three years later. In June 2024, developer Playground Games aimed for a 2025 release window for the open-world RPG but later shifted this timeline to 2026.
According to Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker, co-founder of XboxEra, there are whispers of another delay. During an episode of The XboxEra Podcast, he stated, “I’ve heard from two different people now that Fable may slip to 2027.” Later elaborating that this does not signify a crisis within development but rather reflects the unpredictable nature of game production.
Baker further described the situation as a common occurrence in software development and clarified that it’s merely taking longer than expected.
Addressing the potential delay, Baker emphasized that it shouldn’t be read as a harbinger of doom for the game. Given the extended waiting period for Fable, patience among fans is wearing thin, and any further postponement may not sit well.
