EU's Stop Killing Games Initiative Surpasses 1.4 Million Signatures
The Stop Killing Games campaign has achieved significant momentum, accumulating over 1.4 million signatures, paving the way for new legislative discussions in the European Commission.
The initiative known as Stop Killing Games has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing 1.4 million signatures in its push for change within the gaming industry. This surge in support significantly exceeds its previous goals and indicates a strong public desire for accountability and support from game developers.
The movement was initiated by YouTuber Ross Scott, who sought to address issues related to the premature shutdown of games, notably, Ubisoft’s decision to discontinue support for The Crew without any end-of-life plan.
The aim of the initiative is not to demand perpetual support for all games but rather to encourage companies to implement end-of-life plans that allow games to function on customer systems without ongoing company assistance.
With 1.4 million signatures, the European Citizens’ Initiative is poised to move forward to the European Commission for further consideration. This situation emphasizes the need for companies to be more responsive to their consumer base and could lead to legislative changes in how gaming support is managed across Europe.
