A Stunning Fallout 1 Remake Mod in Doom Re-emerges After Years of Silence

The Fallout: Bakersfield mod promises to recreate Necropolis from Fallout 1 as an FPS experience, showcasing substantial progress after years of development.

Developer Alexander “Red888guns” Berezin has unveiled a new trailer for Fallout: Bakersfield, a project aimed at recreating the ghoul city of Necropolis from the original Fallout as a first-person shooter using the GZDoom Engine.

The last update about Fallout: Bakersfield was a brief teaser back in September 2022. Berezin’s impressive artistry has already distinguished the mod, and despite a lengthy pause in updates, recent footage reveals substantial enhancement in the mod’s scale and features, spotlighting Berezin’s notable background in previous projects.

The mod appears to follow the original storyline closely, reinterpreting the classic gameplay sequence involving a showdown with the super mutant Harry, the area’s original boss.

Although the trailer indicates that the mod is only 60% complete, a momentary glitch hints at a possible release in 2027. This timeline aligns with Berezin’s ongoing role in the New Blood development team, working on a companion RPG project. Enthusiasts can support Bakersfield on platforms like Boosty.
