Arrowhead's CEO Discusses the Timeline for Helldivers 3

Shams Jorjani shares insights on the anticipated Helldivers 3, indicating it might take years before its release.

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani has shared thoughts about a potential Helldivers 3 release schedule. According to Jorjani, fans shouldn’t expect a sequel to Helldivers 2 in the immediate future.

Since the successful introduction of Helldivers 2 last year, Arrowhead has maintained active communication with its community, frequently engaging with players to gather feedback. The game also hosts a dedicated Discord server allowing direct interactions between players and the Arrowhead CEO daily. As a result, Helldivers 2 has become a hallmark example of how live-service models can succeed when developers strike the right balance between content and player engagement over time.

Recently, Jorjani addressed a Discord inquiry regarding Helldivers 3, delivering disappointing news to fans anticipating a quick follow-up:

“Honestly I’m very bought into the vision that Micke, Felix, Niklas, and Marre (our game directors) and Johan have for the game. It’s great to be part of the ride. We honestly are focusing on the here and now. HD3 is hopefully many years away.”

It seems practical for Arrowhead not to rush the next installment, especially as Helldivers 2 continues thriving and receiving updates like the recently introduced Battle of Super Earth. While Helldivers 3 is a guaranteed release at some point, it’s currently not on the horizon.

For fans of Helldivers 2, there are still many exciting developments to expect soon, including the addition of more challenging content to enhance gameplay experience. Furthermore, the game will become available on Xbox Series X/S on August 26, further dissolving previous console exclusivity between PlayStation and Xbox.
