Sho 'BlackRay' Hasegawa Arrested for Kidnapping and Torturing a Man in Japan

The Rainbow Six Siege professional is involved in a severe criminal case involving kidnapping, torture, and extortion.

Sho “BlackRay” Hasegawa, a notable player in Rainbow Six Siege, has been taken into custody along with six others for allegedly kidnapping and confining a man for a span of three months. During this period, they are accused of torturing him and extorting approximately 2 million yen (roughly $13,000).

A report by Jiji.com translated via SiegeGG indicates that the victim was held at several locations between January 29 and April 30. Reports claim that the victim suffered severe torture, including being subjected to boiling water, physical beatings with a hammer, and possibly being stabbed with a screwdriver. The group reportedly videotaped these acts and shared them with unnamed individuals.

Hasegawa, who is 24, has participated in key esports events, recently winning the MVP award at the Six Invitational in Boston earlier this year. His earnings from competitive play since 2018 are estimated at $198,830.

This distressing incident reportedly arose from a disagreement regarding renovation work, which involved ringleader Oshiro and the victim. The situation escalated, culminating in Oshiro’s reckless driving that ultimately led to the victim’s liberation. Following the news, CAG Osaka announced its withdrawal from the APAC North 2025 Stage 1 playoffs.

CAG Osaka has yet to issue a statement regarding Hasegawa’s alleged involvement, and the situation remains under investigation.
