Nintendo Casts New Actors for Zelda Movie and Celebrates Recognition for Emmerdale

Nintendo has revealed the actors who will portray Zelda and Link in its upcoming film adaptation while acknowledging the British soap opera Emmerdale.

Nintendo has paused its legal pursuit against those questioning its copyright to announce the casting of two lesser-known young actors for the upcoming “Legend of Zelda” movie. Bo Bragason will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will take on the role of Link. The announcement was made via a tweet that appeared to be from Shigeru Miyamoto, who stated:

“I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.” Translation: I’m excited to see these two in action in the film.

The movie is set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027. Both actors are relatively new to the film industry; Bragason is 21 and has a limited filmography, while Ainsworth, who previously voiced Pinocchio, is just 16, having appeared briefly in Emmerdale, a popular British soap opera.

Nintendo’s decision to cast these up-and-comers, rather than big Hollywood names, suggests a confidence in the franchise’s ability to draw audiences based solely on its name. Investors are hoping that the film will perform as well as the recent Mario Movie, which grossed over a billion dollars globally.
