Unfortunate News for Gamers: Persona 4 Revival Confirms Denuvo DRM

Atlus announces that the upcoming Persona 4 Revival will include the controversial Denuvo DRM, much to the disappointment of fans.

Atlus has recently announced that Persona 4 Revival will utilize the controversial Denuvo digital rights management (DRM). This is unfortunate news for fans of the series expecting to play Persona 4 Revival on PC, as Denuvo is often criticized by gamers for being intrusive and is commonly blamed for performance issues.

Originally released in 2008, Persona 4 was a major success for Atlus, and was followed by the enhanced version Persona 4 Golden, which debuted on PS Vita in 2012. The game later spawned several spin-offs, including Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4: Dancing All Night. Earlier this year, Persona 4 Revival was officially announced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025.

Atlus has now opened pre-orders for Persona 4 Revival on PS5 and PC. The game’s Steam page reveals that it will indeed be using Denuvo. Even though this was somewhat anticipated, as other Sega-published games like Persona 3 Reload have previously employed the DRM, it still disappoints many gamers. Denuvo is generally unpopular among players, with many claiming it affects game performance.

The Steam page also indicates that Persona 4 Revival will support 15 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (both Spain and Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, traditional and simplified Chinese, Thai, and Turkish.

What You Need to Know About Denuvo DRM

**Persona 4 Revival** will continue the narrative of the original title, which follows the protagonist as he investigates a series of murders in the rural Japanese town of Inaba. Alongside his friends, he discovers a mysterious world within the television that unveils truths about people’s souls. Persona 4 Golden is regarded as one of Sega’s finest games, holding an average critic score of 88 on OpenCritic.

Currently, Persona 4 Revival does not have a confirmed release date. However, Sega’s financial reports suggest that it will not launch before April 2026, projecting a release window during the fiscal year covering April 2026 to March 2027.

Given the massive success of Persona 3 Reload, expectations are high for Persona 4 Revival, which is likely to mirror that success.
