Bungie Will Re-record Voice Lines for Destiny 2's Edge of Fate Following Fan Complaints About Character Voice Changes
Bungie has announced it will re-record several voice lines in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate after fans expressed concerns that a beloved character's voice sounds like a villain's.
Bungie is in the process of addressing concerns regarding voice lines in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. Many players noted that Ikora Rey, a key character, sounded unlike her usual self, reminiscent of a notorious villain. This change is due to the unavailability of original voice actors, resulting in a quick recast that many fans found unsatisfactory.
Bungie confirmed that they are actively working to re-record lines for affected characters, aiming to restore the authenticity expected by players. Simultaneously, the studio cautioned that some characters might feature temporary voice casting or remain silent in certain languages until the updates are fully implemented. Expect subtitles to be enabled by default for narrative continuity.
This situation is being remedied after underlying issues linked to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which previously impacted the game’s dialogue quality. The strike has concluded, paving the way for better voice performances moving forward.
In the meantime, Bungie assures fans that while The Edge of Fate has generally received positive feedback, they are keen to rectify any mistakes that may distract from player immersion.
