Final Fantasy 14 Director Acknowledges Missteps in Raid Design

Director Naoki Yoshida admits the latest raid, Forked Tower, was overly challenging and requires extensive planning, leading to player frustration.

The director of Final Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida, recently revealed in an interview that the game’s latest dungeon, Forked Tower, was a strategic miscalculation. He noted, “It wasn’t meant to be hardcore content. The intention was that it might be more difficult at first, but over time more players might be willing to take on the challenge; yet, in the end, we made it too difficult for players to even get into the raid in the first place.”

This admission comes after numerous player complaints regarding the substantial preparation needed to participate in the dungeon. The entry process is described as overly complicated and requiring synchronization among multiple groups, which has dampened the player experience. Yoshida acknowledged this challenge, stating that adjustments will be made in response to player feedback in future updates.
